Jesselton Point Waterfront is the new name given to what is formerly known as Kota Kinabalu Ferry Terminal. It serves as a ferry and boat terminal for those taking a ferry to Labuan and for visitor going to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and the surrounding island. Taking advantage of its strategic location and high human traffic, this waterfront area was re-developed or upgraded in 2006 to be one of the city attractions to include recreational, commercial, residential, and retail facilities.
At Jesselton Point Waterfront, you can stroll along the boardwalk as you enjoy the scenic view of the sea and the surrounding islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset in the evening. View some pictures of Jesselton town bygone areas from the early to mid-1900s, which are on display near the main entrance to give you a little historical perspective of the city past.
Jesselton Point Waterfront is a good place to unwind after a hectic day and to chill out with friends and family members. Dine at one of the many alfresco eateries outlets or go for souvenir hunting at the various souvenir shops along the boardwalk. There is also an indoor futsal center here and for those who like fishing, the jetty is open for fishing from 6pm to 6 am for a small fee.
Getting There: Located north of downtown Kota Kinabalu near to Wisma Sabah, Grand Port View building, marine police and custom offices. The best way to come here is to take a taxi, however if you are staying at a nearby city hotel or around north of KK, this place is within walking distance.
